  The term "deepfake" refers to a category of synthetic media that is produced by manipulating and superimposing images, videos, or audio recordings of one person onto those of another person using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms, resulting in a highly realistic and frequently convincing fake. The term "deepfake" refers to fake media that was produced using deep learning neural networks.     Deepfakes have sparked worries about the technology's potential abuse for nefarious reasons like disseminating misleading information, swaying public opinion, or producing fake pornography.
